STRONG GREEN CREDENTIALS

Ireland is very well suited to sustainability and in fact its beef industry, the largest net exporter in the northern hemisphere has one of the lowest carbon footprints in the EU according to EU commission research. No other country in the world is carbon footprinting its farms on what is in effect a national scale, and doing so in a process of measurement, feedback and continuous improvement.

SUSTAINABLE FARMING METHODS

Origin Green is a unique sustainability development programme developed by Bord Bia - The Irish Food Board - to demonstrate the commitment of Irish food and drink manufacturers to operating sustainably.

It is founded on evidence based performance and commitment to further improvement of farming and manufacturing in areas such as greenhouse gas emission, energy conservation, water management, biodiversity, community initiatives and health and nutrition. At the heart of Origin Green is a sustainability charter that will commit participants to engage directly with the challenges of sustainability.

FARMS THAT UPHOLD THE
HIGHEST STANDARD

Ireland has earned a reputation around the world for innovation in food safety
and now sustainable farming

There are numerous schemes set in place to demonstrate the highest possible levels of animal welfare and food safety in Ireland. These schemes are designed to educate the farming community on environmental practices with conservation and the habitat of wildlife and species of flora and fauna. Ireland's geographic location gives it the green landscape and rich fertile land perfect for beef production. This is made possible due to the natural rainfall and mild climate all year round. Their factories are leading the way in lean manufacture and process to ensure all energy and resources are used responsibly and efficiently.

HEALTH ADVANTAGES

To produce our very best healthy beef all John Stone cattle are 100% free from growth or appetite promoting hormones. This is not only for moral, ethical and quality purposes but also because the use of such methods carries a risk that the animals could develop antibiotic resistant bacteria. Strict health records and animal passports are kept for each animal.

John Stone farmers use only locally sourced, environmentally produced feed for their cattle. In addition to giving our Irish beef its distinct flavour and texture, grass fed beef offers a wealth of health benefits.
