Option 1 - Jeep Tour with hour long Levada walk

  • The word "levada" means irrigation canal. The island of Madeira has 2,150 km of them, making for rich and varied cultivation. Built by man in the early days of colonization to bring water to inaccessible farmland, the “levadas” are now one of Madeira's famous tourist attractions. In all, there are more than 200 of them, crossing the island's basaltic relief and leading walkers into a unique natural world.

The jeeps will drive through the Ribeiro Frio forest park and stop at Santana, home to the triangular houses with thatched roofs and picturesque gardens, one of the traditional postcard images of this island.

  • Dress code: Casual. Please wear trainers or walking boots with good grip and bring a waterproof jacket.

Option 2 - Jeep Tour & Mountain Biking or Electric Bike Level 1

After the bike tour (which you can pre choose to be on mountain bike or e bike) you will continue on your jeep adventure. No previous experience necessary.

  • Dress code: Casual. Please wear trainers or other suitable bike shoes and bring a waterproof jacket. Helmets will be provided.

Option 3 - Jeep Tour & Mountain Biking or Electric Bike Level 2

  • Dress code: Casual. Please wear trainers or other suitable bike shoes and bring a waterproof jacket. Helmets will be provided.

Option 4 - Relaxed Jeep Tour and Poncha Making

  • This will be a more relaxed jeep tour with no off-road driving, suitable for those who may be pregnant or have back issues. The most important sites will still be covered on this tour but also with the opportunity to learn how to prepare Madeira's "national drink", poncha; a blessed mixture of rum, honey, orange juice and lemon. (A non alcoholic drink will also be available.)

  • Dress code: Casual.

Madeiran BBQ Lunch at Quinta do Furão
